Just as the correct use of the Signature Mark, blue and orange, and the Boise State fonts help people recognize the university, photographs help tell our stories and demonstrate who and what we are and what we do. When choosing photographs consider your message and audience. For example, when marketing to prospective students, use of photographs of campus and campus activities will help prospective students imagine themselves as part of Boise State.
Ensure that you create suitable space around graphics and logos that are laid over photographs. The University Signature Mark should not be placed over a photograph or patterned background that interferes with the readability of the University Signature Mark.

Since video involves a multitude of images and sound, it is important that a video created to represent or promote the university be clearly identified as a Boise State production. The Boise State logo must appear in the video, preferably as a full screen slate or graphic at the beginning and/or the end. Typeface and color of the graphic must be consistent with approved branding guidelines. Avoid all references to Boise State as BSU.
It is recommended that the B logo is used as a “bug” throughout, or intermittently, through the video, shown in the lower right hand corner. In this instance the “bug” may be of lower opacity, or partially transparent.
Video, photography or writing credits are not necessary, but the end graphic displaying the Boise State logo should also include the title of the department, organization or program responsible for the production.
Ensure that you have the rights to use all material in your video. Do not use any material, person’s image, sound recordings/music or third party trademarks for which you have not cleared the rights. If you have any questions about copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact the Office of General Counsel.
Photos and Videos on Campus
Individuals may take photographs or shoot video for their own personal use without permission from the university. Projects that are not for personal use require advance approval. To make a photograph or film request for promotional or commercial uses on campus, other than on athletics facilities, please contact the Director of Trademark Licensing and Enforcement.
For photographs of or filming in athletic facilities, you will need to complete a facility rental request via the athletics department here or through broncosports.com. For media credential requests to athletic events, please contact Bronco Sports Information.
